As the name suggests, Digatron/Firing Circuits results from the fusion of two companies: the German Digatron Industrie-Elektronik GmbH and the American Firing Circuits, Inc.. The merger was completed in 1988.

Firing Circuits - 1965
Firing Circuits was founded 1965 in the United States. The original line-up of products was large inverters for galvanics and powertrains and the necesary firing circuits which served as name giver for the company.

Firing Circuits - 1970
Since the 1970's the company concentrated on battery charging technology; both in clocked technology for the traction market (Life Plus Charger) as well as in thyristor technology for battery manufaturers‘ formation processes. ‘Til the end of the 90s DC-drives and soft starters were manufactured in great numbers.

Firing Circuits - 1982
With the introduction of computer-controlled formation in 1982 the company specialized to become a system solution provider for formation systems. MicroForm, MP5500 Controller and the Formation Supervisor software are product lines that where conceived back then and which are maintained in their 4rd generation today. Of course, the possibilities of today’s generation can not be compared with the original versions.

Digatron - 1968
Digatron was founded 1968 in Aachen, Germany. From the beginning, the company specialized on electronic test systems for batteries. The initially purely hardware-based products quickly developed to become the international standard for battery testing.

Digatron - 1971
In 1971, the first transistorized/solid state High Rate Discharge Tester HEW for 600 A came to market and in 1975 the first Universal Battery Tester UBT. These product lines served as benchmarks for the competition and (unfortunately) also for Far Eastern imitations.

Digatron - 1982
In 1982, the first computer-controlled test system was developed, the model BTS-200. This product line too exists today in its 3rd generation, and the 4th is almost completed (Battery Manager).

Merger - 1988
The merger of Digatron and Firing Circuits in 1988 created the world’s largest supplier of battery test and formation systems. Synergy effects where obtained especially in the field of software development.

Qingdao - 1995
In 1995 production facilities where erected in Qingdao, China, initially as Joint Venture company.

Qingdao - 2000
In 2000, Digatron Qingdao became a wholly owned subsidiary (WOE). Today, the company manufactures formation rectifiers and laboratory equipment for the Chinese market. Likewise, the sales and customer service of all other Digatron/Firing Circuits products have been transferred to Digatron Qingdao.
