The Bidirectional Battery Tester (BDBT) was developed to offer the most efficient test unit for battery modules with typical voltages from 20 to 100 VDC.
It can replace all test units with SCR or transistor technology used for battery module test applications. Digatron Firing Circuits BDBT combines the advantage of the high accurate - low ripple transistor-based systems with the cost efficiency of SCR designs. More than that, it additionally provides a much better dynamic output and can be directly connected to the grid without transformer.
Subsequently, it helps saving floor space and weight. As it is usual for SCR based test units, the BDBT also feeds back the energy while discharging, but with reduced harmonics compared to SCR.
The BDBT design is modular and available as 50 A/100 VDC power modules. One cabinet accepts a maximum of 16 power modules which can be grouped to achieve higher testing currents.
The Bidirectional Battery Tester (BDBT) is designed for testing battery modules up to 100 VDC. Besides standard test profiles such as Cyclelife and Capacity, it is especially suited to simulate Drivecycles or similar test applications with high dynamic load changes and high dynamic transitions from charge to dishcarge.
